Is Genuine Leather difficult to cut? Because of irregular contours? Because of the need to identify the next point? Or because of fear of waste? OK, this will make it easy to take advantage of the AMOR intelligent leather cutting system.

Now, let’s start with how to identify and manage the contours of genuine leather. AMOR’s intelligent leather cutting system automatically recognizes material contours and provides multiple management modes. You can extract material outlines through an automatic recognition system, or you can draw irregular, rectangular, or elliptical areas in the software. Then for different material areas, the pieces are nested within these areas.

Currently, the image formats we support are: gif, jpeg(jpg), png, tif(tiff), bmp, emf, wmf. However, we recommend that our clients prefer the “jpg” photo format.

First, we edit the outline of the genuine leather, there are two ways to identify:

1.Insert Image
Opens a photo image files from the disc by Open File dialog and insert it into the current project document as a working pattern. You can create material outline from this image by Magic Wand tool or manual drawing tool.

2.From TWAIN
Scan image from scanner directly. This command is in the dropdown menu of the “Insert Image” button. You need to select the TWAIN source first if this is the first time you use your scanner.

Second: Identify the outline and flaws of the genuine leather.

1. Automatically identify the material outline:
Identify and create areas of material from photo images with the Magic Wand tool. AMOR’s intelligent leather cutting system needs to identify the pixel color distance information in the image, so the image quality of the photo should not be too bad. Pay attention to avoid the impact of strong sunlight spots, complex backgrounds, etc. on the image quality.

In order to obtain the best leather contour recognition effect, we should pay attention to the following 2 points:
1.1. Color difference
It is required that the leather material and the background of the laying area must have a significant color difference to help the software quickly identify the outline of the material.
1.2. Enable “High Precision Mode”
It can improve the ability of material contour detection and defect detection. Improve recognition accuracy and identify more defects.

Note: The larger the leather, the more defects, and the slower the recognition speed.

2. Automatically detect flaws inside the leather.
We can set “whether to keep holes and stains inside the material” in the software. Too small holes or indistinct stains may not be identified. When inspecting the leather, the user can use a thicker chalk to draw a circle on the defective part of the leather, and the color of the chalk must be close to the color of the table.

In addition, we can also define the area of the recognition area. All identified areas smaller than this area will not be retained.
Note: When you enter 0, the software detects all flaws it can detect, but some flaws are close to 0, which will cause the software to crash. It is recommended that the user enter 0.0000001 when necessary, which can effectively filter out extremely small defects.

When the automatic recognition of leather outline fails or the recognition result does not meet the requirements, the recognition seed points can be added manually. Method: Hold down CTRL and right-click on the material to add a seed point, which is represented by a small red cross.

As shown in the left picture below, because of chromatic aberration and light problems, the results of automatic recognition are not ideal. At this time, adding a few recognition seed points can perfectly realize contour and defect recognition.

3. Manage leather for nesting.

3.1 Set the leather nesting direction:
We can set the nesting direction of the leather to solve the requirements of the nesting direction to meet the processing requirements of the material. However, the orientation of the material must be specified before leather contour recognition is complete, otherwise it cannot be used. After specifying the direction, the leather is automatically rotated to the horizontal direction so as to be consistent with the direction of the template. After export, the leather is rotated back to its original position.

3.2 It is allowed to segment the leather that has been contoured. The split operation must precede the nesting. Unable to split already nested material.
Split mode:
01. To split the leather, move the left mouse button to the outside of the material outline, and left click on the starting point. The left mouse button draws an arc, and the right mouse button draws a polyline. It can be divided by straight line or arbitrary curve. The dividing line cannot intersect itself, as shown in the following figure:

02. It is also possible to perform multiple consecutive segmentations. Divide a material profile into 2 or more profiles (as shown below). It should be noted that when dividing the contour of the leather, do not cross from the internal defect point, that is, the defect is inseparable. Otherwise, the software will give an illegal prompt.

03. You can also dig out an area in the generated leather outline to form two new outlines (as shown below).

Through the function of dividing the leather, we can meet the sub-regional nesting for different pieces according to the situation of the leather.

By identifying and managing the contour of the leather, we can obtain the contour of the material we want to process, and automatically nest according to the contour shape.
